& Gallery Adventures
Intergenerational programs
for children ages 6–12 and accompanying adults. These programs
include gallery activities and art-making. The programs begin in
the galleries and are followed by an art-making activity in the studio.
Programs are held on Saturday afternoons from 2:30-4:30pm and are FREE
with museum admission.

Storytelling
& Art Making
An inspiring, nurturing, and
creating setting provides preschool children and their
companions the opportunity to explore and grow through art. This
hour-long program begins with a story in the galleries and is followed
by an art activity in the studio. Programs are held on Saturday
mornings from 10:30-11:30am. $10 fee for adults, children are free. Registration is required.

Vacation
Art Break
Children's workshops during school vacation weeks. Classes
frequently incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and
context to lessons. Morning sessions from
9:00 am–noon for ages
6–8; afternoon sessions from 1:00–4:00 pm for ages 9–13. Fee
is $15 for AIHA
members; $20 for non-members; covers materials and museum admission. Registration and required and spaces are limited.

Family Days
Don't miss these all-day festivals that include lots of museum
activities for participants of every age— art workshops, performances, galleries
activities, and more.
Held on Sunday afternoons.

Home
School Programs
Experience a homeschool program in which
class subjects relate to the exhibitions on view and incorporate
art-history references to provide context for learning. Appropriate for
ages 8 and up. Fee is $10 per child, including museum admission and art
materials. Registration is required.

Girl
Scouts & Brownies
Girl Scouts and Brownies will learn the basic skills and knowledge to
improve art work while earning drawing and art badges. Participants also receive a
certificate of Art Appreciation for the Albany Institute, and a free
family pass to the museum. Advance registration is required.
Please contact the Girl Scouts of Northeastern NY at 518.489.8110 for
more information. Fee is $14 for AIHA members and $16 for non-members. Troop Leaders
can also bring Junior Girl Scouts, and Brownies experience a program that
incorporates gallery time and studio activities. Registration is
required. $7 fee includes museum admission and art materials. |

Summer Art Workshops
At "Thursday's Children" programs, children work within the museum
setting to experience the many ways artists work and are inspired.
Emphasis is on fine art techniques, materials and vocabulary. Classes incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and context
to lessons. Thursdays throughout July and August. Morning: 9:00 am–noon for ages 6–8; afternoons: 1:00–4:00 pm for ages 9–13. "Summer in the City" Art
Workshops, for ages 13–15, are held on Wednesday afternoons
from 1:00-4:00pm. |
