Teacher Planning:
Time required
for lesson: (3) 45 – 60 minutes (can be finished for a homework
research assignment)
Materials/resources: School Library, Computer Lab, pencils,
notebooks, (For Presentation Visual aids) Paper (18 x 24), Drawing pencils,
Markers/colored pencils/crayons/paint/brushes, Magazines,
Newspapers, Scissors
Technology
resources: Computers, Internet and printer (if needed)
Researching a subject
Activity 1:
Have students use primary and secondary sources to research the
League of Women Voters. Each student can compose a research paper,
including a thesis, about their findings. Students can include
images, biographies, first-hand accounts, and so on to construct
their paper.
Activity 2: Upon completion
of the research paper, have the students work in groups to create a
presentation about the League of Women Voters. Encourage the
students to use visual aids, including posters, digital technology,
slides, or create a website to illuminate their point of view
to the class.
Assessment:
Students may be evaluated on understanding, implementation and
participation of the activity.
