While railroads appear to be made of trains, stations, tracks, iron, smoke, steel and speed, they are also operated by people, to serve people. The staff of the Albany Institute of History & Art is eager to hear about the experiences of people working or traveling on the railroad, particularly the Delaware & Hudson and the New York Central lines. Please consider sharing your story below, which may be posted on our web page devoted to the All Aboard! exhibitions.
Also, join local residents for our Memory Session on Saturday, September 6, at 3:30 pm. Wesley Balla, Curator of History and Richard Barrett, railroad historian will lead the discussion of work and life in West Albany and other local railroad communities.
