CONTEMPORARY REGIONAL ART
Moon Princess Collage, casein and colored pencil on Rives paper, 1987 Robert Cartmell has had a lifelong passion for roller coasters. His roller coaster images, depicted with crosshatches reminiscent of Rembrandt, sometimes take center stage, or are tucked away in corners. Cartmell is an internationally recognized artist and a renowned authority of the history of roller coasters. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Chicago and his M.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Iowa.
