33rd Antiquarian Book & Ephemera Fair

To Celebrate the 33rd Annual Antiquarian Book & Ephemera Fair on Sunday, November 12, the Albany Institute of History & Art will hold a variety of related programs on Saturday, November 11.  Schedule of Activities and Book Fair are as follows:

 

Saturday, November 11

 

2:00 pm - Lecture & Book Signing

New York's Historic Armories: An Illustrated History

Author Nancy Todd, architectural historian and Program analyst at the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, draws on archival research as well as the historic and contemporary photographs and drawings to trace the evolution of the armory as specific building type in American architectural and military history.

 

3:00 pm - Behind The Scenes Tour

Visitors will tour the collections storage areas and see the highlights of the Library's collection and learn how it preserves, organizes and makes available its collection of over 1 million items.  (FREE)

 

3:30 - 5:00 pm - Appraisals

Visitors can bring their rare books, ephemera, photographs, manuscripts and other paper based materials to the Albany Institute of History & Art for appraisals by specialist.  Cost is $5 per item or $10 per 3 items.

 

Sunday, November 12

33rd Antiquarian Book & Ephemera Fair

At the Washington Avenue Armory

10:00 am - 4:00 pm

 

Among the almost 50 dealers, collectors can find a variety of ephemera (Materials created for a specific, limited purpose, generally designed to be discarded after use,) including rare books, prints, miniature books, vintage photographs, valentines, trade cards, political material, posters, broadsides, postcards and more.

 

Noon - 2:00 pm

Verbal appraisals on books and papers (photographs, manuscripts, autographs, rare volumes, etc.) will be available for $5 per item.

 

Noon - 12:45 pm

Author Paul Grondahl will be on hand discussing and signing copies of his book...

 

1:00 - 1:45 pm

Author Tom Lewis will be on hand discussing and signing copies of his book...

 

2:00 - 2:45 pm

Author Nancy Todd will be on hand discussing and signing copies of her book...
