Learn about some of the children whose portraits are on the museum’s walls during this interactive tour and join us in the art studio for an art-making activity. (for children ages 7-11.) Sunday, April 17, 2:00 - 3:30 pm Special Event: Edible Book: Eating Between the Lines Eat your words to culminate National Library Week (April 10 - 16) at AIHA’s 2nd Annual Edible Book. Guests are invited to contribute edible dishes that relate to books, literature or words. In the past, participants have used phyllo dough for pages, decorated a cake with a scene from a book or used humorous puns to play off of a favorite literary work. School Vacation Workshops: Objects in Our Lives We will visit the galleries to see the new installation of decorative arts in the Lansing Gallery and discuss the ways that objects we use in our daily lives are similar to and different from the objects used by people in the past. Children will explore and learn about design elements and create a vessel of their own in the art studio. (includes mid-morning snack and art materials and is ideal for children ages 7 – 12.) Visit the galleries for inspiration with a scavenger hunt to lead you to objects with beautiful and intricate patterns and return to the art studio to create your own pattern designs. (for children ages 6 and older.) This program is FREE with museum admission.

Saturday, April 30, 2005 Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Visitors to the Albany Institute of History & Art who present their Museum Day Card will receive free admission for two adults. Museum Day is a national program put on by Smithsonian Magazine. The Museum Day Cards appeared in the April 2005 issue of Smithsonian Magazine.
