Saturday, January 8, 2:00 pm Gallery Highlights Tour A 45-minute tour of the Albany Institute, including the renowned Hudson River School, Colonial Albany, 18th and 19th Century Painting and Sculpture and Ancient Egypt.
Sunday, January 9, 2:00 pm Lecture: The Arts and Crafts Movement: British Roots, American Interpretations Cheryl Robertson, an independent scholar, curator, museum consultant and author of an essay on the architecture of the Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Colony in the catalogue that accompanies the traveling exhibition will give an overview of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Admission to this program and reception will be free to all New York State teachers who RSVP via email to education@albanyinstitute.org; a reception for teachers will follow.
Sunday, January 16, 1:00-5:00 pm. Museum Explorers Family Day: The World War II Era Highlights include: Patricia Perrella will share her presentation: Destroyer Escort Artifacts from the USS Slater DE-766 Collection, Mark Rust will perform The Songs of the Soldier, a fascinating look at the songs America and its allies sang as they prepared for and fought WWI and WWII, hands-on art-making and writing activities for visitors of all ages including spelling your name with signal flags.

Reservations required; please call 518.463.5502 x469. 6:30pm: Slide Lecture: India/Burma/China in World War II with Gregg Millett, Ph.D. and Krystal Garrison. Mr. Millett’s father, Clinton Millett, was a surgeon in command of a 1,000-bed U.S. Army hospital across the Burma Road and documented his experiences through hundreds of slides and letters home describing the people, culture and geography of India, Burma and China.
Sunday, January 23, 2:00 pm. Reception to follow; 3:00 pm. Annual Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Memorial Lecture: Byrdcliffe: An American Arts and Crafts Colony Nancy E. Green, senior curator of prints, drawings at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University and organizer of the Byrdcliffe exhibition, will discuss components of the exhibition within the context of the Arts and Crafts Movement.
