A 45-minute tour of the Albany Institute, including the renowned Hudson River School, Colonial Albany, 19th Century Sculpture and Ancient Egypt.

Lecture & Film: Envisioning History with Gale Munro, Head Curator, U.S. Navy Art Collection will discuss the program that included more than 100 U.S. servicemen and civilians who served as ‘combat artists’ and how they depicted the war as they experienced it—with their paintbrushes and pens.  Ms Munro will then introduce the film, They Drew Fire: Combat Artists of World War II.   Reception to follow; 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Lecture/Interview: Redefining Heroism and Patriotism: How the WAVES Helped Win World War II Dr. Regina Akers, U.S. Naval Archivist and adjunct professor at Howard University and Commander Jane Barton, USNR (Ret.) will discuss why more women joined the WAVES rather than other organizations, the integration of Afro-Americans into the WAVES and why the Mainbocher uniform was so important in boosting morale.   Reception to follow; 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
