The Squiggle by Carole Lexa Schaefer

When a group of young children set off with their teacher on an orderly walk through the park, the very last little girl spies a “squiggle” on the ground and picks it up. As she twirls, twists, and turns the long red ribbon, she imagines it to be a dragon, a thundercloud, a “full flat moon,” and much more. In the studio use mixed media to represent a squiggle collage.

Wednesday, August 8; 9:30-10:30am

The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister

Rainbow Fish, “the most beautiful fish in the entire ocean,” refuses to share his prized iridescent scales.  When his greed leaves him without friends or admirers, the lonely fish seeks advice from the wise octopus, who counsels him to give away his beauty and discover how to be happy. In the studio, create a paper fish mosaic and share scales with those around you.

Wednesday, August 15; 9:30-10:30am

Little Blue Little Yellow by Leo Lionni

Little blue and little yellow share wonderful adventures. One day, they can’t find one another.  When they finally meet, they are overjoyed. In the studio, create patterns of yellow, blue and green in our studio using paints and textured rollers.

Wednesday, August 22; 9:30-10:30am

Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton

Humorous animal characters introduce the basic colors with clothing. In our studio, use fun foam and cutting techniques to create all sorts of colorful clothing.

Wednesday, August 29; 9:30-10:30am

The Hello Goodbye Window by Norton Juster and Chris Raschka

The window in Nanna and Poppy’s kitchen is no ordinary window- it is the place where magic happens. In the studio, use a variety of paper and materials to create a mixed media window.
