ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART JOINS “1st FRIDAYS”Albany, NY--The Albany Institute of History & Art joins “1st Fridays” on February 2 from 5:00-9:00pm with a showcase of three new exhibitions, live music, refreshments by regional purveyors and more! “The 1st Friday phenomenon is truly exciting for Albany residents and visitors alike,” said AIHA Director Christine Miles. “We are thrilled to become part of this downtown celebration of arts and culture.” "Earth and Fire: A Celebration of Clay and Ceramics" features three exhibitions spanning four centuries of ceramics from across the world. The galleries will showcase objects ranging from 18th century Chinese Export porcelain to regional 19th century earthenware to 21st century pieces just out of the kiln by contemporary regional artists. The Rambling Jugstompers, the all-star Albany Quartet, will present three sets of “funky American string band music” during the evening. Tasting stations will be provided courtesy of Mezzo Marketplace & Eatery and Brewery Ommegang. Admission to the museum will be free.
