ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART TO PRESENT SPECIAL

MUSEUM SHOP BOOK AND AUTHOR PROGRAM IN JUNE

ALBANY, NY—On Saturday, June 2, author-illustrator Thomas Locker and author Bob Barron will present their inspiration book Journey to the Mountaintop at 2:00 pm at the Albany Institute of History & Art. This special Book & Author Program offers a thoughtful and poetic consideration of human relationship to nature.

Journey to the Mountaintop chronicles the dramatic events of Locker and Barron, two friends who were jolted into a journey of awareness and introspection. Recently, Locker suffered a near death experience and Barron mourned the unexpected passing of friends, prompting the two friends to embark on a journey of discovery in America’s first wilderness, the Catskill Mountains, where they reflect, write, sketch and paint.

Glorying in the peace of beauty and nature, they explore everything from the wisdom of Native Americans to the thoughts of scientists and naturalists such as Albert Eintstein and Henry David Thoreau. The result of their odyssey, Journey to the Mountaintop, offers a thoughtful and poetic consideration of our relationship to nature. This inspirational book will strike a chord with anyone seeking to live life to the fullest in the time we are here.

Thomas Locker has illustrated more than 30 books, many of which he has also written including Walking with Henry, Skytree, Hudson: The Story of a River, and Rembrandt and Titus, and has received numerous awards for his works including the Christopher Award, the Knickerbocker Lifetime Achievement Award, and the New York Times Award for best illustration. He currently resides in a small village on the edge of the Hudson River.

Robert Barron, historian, scientist, and author is the founder and President of Fulcrum Publishing. Barron was the program manager for the Mariner II (Venus) and Mariner IV (Mars) onboard space computers, as well as the founder of Prime Computer in 1971, which went on to become one of the largest Fortune 500 Companies in America. Barron currently resides in Colorado.
