MARCH BOOK & AUTHOR PROGRAMAT THE ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ARTALBANY, NY— The Albany Institute of History & Art is pleased to announce its Book & Author Program for the month of March: TOSHIKO TAKAEZU: The Earth in Bloom, by J. Stanley Yake, on Sunday, March 4 at 2:00 pm. In his new book, J. Stanley Yake, philosophy professor, amateur ceramic artist, and photographer, explores the work of one of the world’s most accomplished artists, Toshiko Takaezu. Born in Hawaii, Takaezu developed an approach to art that combines techniques and sensibilities of both East and West. In the 1950s she studied in Japan with master potter Toyo Kaneshige, and in 1967 began teaching at Princeton University. Her distinctive art is represented in major collections throughout the world. Albany Institute Book & Author Programs feature free lectures on recent books of special regional interest. Each talk is followed by a book signing and books are available for purchase in the Museum Shop. The Albany Institute of History & Art is located at 125 Washington Avenue in downtown Albany, one block from the New York State Capitol.
