MAY FAMILY PROGRAMS AT THEALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ARTALBANY, NY- The Albany Institute of History & Art is offering a variety of family programs in April. Storytelling & Art-MakingA special preschool hour designed for young children and their parents. First a storyteller reads a story in the AIHA galleries and then an AIHA educator has an art-making activity for preschoolers in the studio. $10 fee for adults and children are FREE. Registration is required. In our studio create a rattle using paints, gourds and feathers. Family Day Hands-on art experiences, art workshops, and gallery activities. All activities are FREE with museum admission.Sunday, May 20 FULL STEAM AHEAD: Robert Fulton and the age of steamboats family day Travel Postcard; 12:30 – 3:30 pm Send a postcard to you friend about all the fun you had at the Albany Institute of History & Art! In our studio we will use a variety of paper and cutting techniques to create travel postcards. Steamboats on the Hudson Performance; 1:30 – 2:30 pm Rich Bala presents Steamboats on the Hudson, a celebration of story and song about the historic voyage of Robert Fulton’s steamboat, the transition from sail to steam power, and the golden age of steamboats on the Hudson River! Boat Making and Sailing in the Park Join us in the studio as we make boats from natural material to float in the fountain in Washington Park! 1:00 – 3:00pm Build your boats in our studio 3:00 – 4:00pm Sail your boat in the park fountain Support for Family Programs at the Albany Institute of History & Art has been provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, Berkshire Bank and Stewart’s Shops.
