ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART ANNOUNCESMAY “1st FRIDAY” PROGRAMAlbany, NY--The Albany Institute of History & Art is pleased to announce its participation in the May “1st Friday” celebration on May 4 from 5:00-9:00pm. Festivities include FREE admission to the galleries, a 10% discount on select items in the museum shop and music and refreshments by regional restaurants and shops. In addition, Kimberly Konrad Alvarez, Architectural Historian & Preservation Consultant with Landmark Consulting, will present a talk sponsored by the Historic Albany Foundation through a Preserve NY grant from the Preservation League of New York State. · 6:00 pm – THE LUSTRON HOUSE: Searching the State for Modern Metal Marvel of the Post-War Era Kimberly Konrad Alvarez will discuss The Lustron Project, a joint Project of Historic Albany Foundation, The Preservation League of New York State and the State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation to locate, research, document and nominate Lustron houses throughout the state that are worth of recognition and preservation to the State and National Register of Historic Places. The Lustron House, a pre-fabricated all steel houses to ease the housing shortage for Gis returing from World War II.
