ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART ANNOUNCES ITSNOVEMBER TEACHER WORKSHOPALBANY, NY—On Wednesday, November 7, the Albany Institute of History & Art will present a teacher workshop, Fabric, Construction and Storytelling from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Modeled after the Albany Institute’s current exhibition FABRICA: Fiber Constructs by Estelle Kessler Yarinsky, participants will be introduced to the exhibition by artist Estelle Kessler Yarinsky and Education Department staff, and receive materials relating to Social Studies, Visual Arts and English Language Arts NYS Standards. Registration is requested by Friday, November 2, and can be made by contacting Tracy Grosner, School & Teacher Program Coordinator at 518.463.4478 x405 or at grosnert@albanyinstitute.org Estelle Kessler Yarinsky creates works of textile art using fabric, photographs and elaborate stitchery. FABRICA: Fiber Constructs by Estelle Kessler Yarinsky, consists of 20 large-scale portraits, made largely of printed and textured fabric, of people who have made a difference in the lives of their communities, including portraits of Emily Warren Roebling (1843 – 1903), Rosalind Franklin (1920-1958) and Zora Neal Hurston (1891-1960). The Albany Institute’s teacher workshops are open to New York State Educators and teachers of all grade levels. Teachers attending workshops will be introduced to the Albany Institute’s exhibitions, collections and other curriculum-related content by the Education Department, as well as receive classroom materials. Admission is FREE for New York State Teachers. # # # Founded in 1791, the Albany Institute of History & Art (AIHA) is a 501(c) 3 cultural and educational institution dedicated to public service. As a museum, its mission is to collect, preserve and interpret the art, history and culture of Albany and the upper Hudson Valley region from the 17th century to the present. The museum is open year round, Wednesday-Sunday. Admission is free to members and children under 6, $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and students and $4 for children ages 6-12.
