ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART TO OFFER

FREE ADMISSION ON MUSEUM DAY

Presented by Smithsonian Magazine and Hyundai Motor America

ALBANY, NY—The Albany Institute of History & Art is pleased to announce that it will be participating in Museum Day on Saturday, September 29, by offering free admission to Smithsonian Magazine readers and Smithsonian.com visitors.  Presented by Smithsonian Magazine and Hyundai Motor America, Museum Day reflects the spirit of Smithsonian Magazine, and emulates the free-admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington D.C. based facilities.

To receive free admission, attendees must present Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Admission Card. The Museum Day Admission Card is available in the September issue of Smithsonian magazine and a downloadable version is available on the Museum Day website at www.smithsonian.com/museumdaycard. The general public is welcome to participate by going to the Smithsonian.com website and downloading the Museum Day Admission Card. Listings and links to other participating museums’ and sponsors’ sites can be found at www.smithsonian.com/museumday.

During Museum Day, visitors to the Albany Institute of History & Art will be able to enjoy the Albany Institute’s permanent collections, as well as the fall exhibitions INDIAN LADDER, A LYRIC JOURNEY: Photographs by John Yang and FABRICA: Fiber Constructs by Estelle Kessler Yarinsky. Indian Ladder, A Lyric Journey, highlights Yang’s collection of photographs from Thacher Park, and was designed by the Albany Institute with guidance from Yang. FABRICA consists of 20 large-scale works, made of printed and textured fabric, creatively combined to illustrate Yarinsky’s narrative imagery.
