WILLIAM KENNEDY TO DISCUSS NOVEL ON ALBANY GANGSTER AT THE ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART

ALBANY, NY—On Sunday, April 15 William Kennedy will discuss his book “Legs” at 3:00 pm at the Albany Institute of History & Art. This program is part of the Albany Symphony Orchestra’s “Celebrating William Kennedy” month.

“Legs” is William Kennedy’s novel about legendary gangster and bootlegger, Jack “Legs” Diamond. This fact and myth based story set in Albany, is told through the eyes of Diamond’s attorney, Marcus Gorman, and follows Legs and his mistress Kiki Roberts, through the prohibition era up to Leg’s death, where he was murdered on Dove Street.

The discussion of “Legs” will be held in the Key Cultural Center at the Albany Institute of History & Art and will be open to the first 150 visitors. Admission to this program is Free.

During the month of April, the Albany Symphony Orchestra will be holding a variety of programs for its “Celebrating William Kennedy” month. This celebration includes events surrounding and inspired by the Albany Symphony’s World Premiere performance of Roscoe, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by composer Kevin Beavers.

This program is a presentation of “Capital Culture,” collaboration between the Albany Institute of History & Art, Albany Symphony Orchestra and Capital Repertory Theatre.
