ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART CO-SPONSORS

WRITING FROM ART PROGRAM WITH HUDSON VALLEY WRITERS GUILD

ALBANY, NY- The Albany Institute of History & Art is pleased to announce its Writing from Art program on Thursday, August 9 at 2:00pm.  This workshop is for writers of all genres and levels and is co-sponsored by the Hudson Valley Writers Guild. Program fee is $15 for members of the Albany Institute or Guild and $20 for non-members; space is limited.

The workshop will consist of a discussion led by Albany Institute’s Director of Education, Erika Sanger on the current exhibition, Luminosity: Paintings by Stephen Hannock. This discussion will be followed by a multi-genre writing session lead by Therese Broderick, a freelance writer and teacher whose award-winning poems have been published widely.

Stephen Hannock, an Albany native, is one of America’s foremost contemporary neo-romantic painters.  His carefully crafted “lightscapes” are renowned for their magnificent luminous qualities and incorporation of text.  Using his signature process of sanding, layering paint and resin, and polishing, Hannock renders pure iridescent reflections of light from the surface of his paintings. Luminosity: Paintings by Stephen Hannock will be on view until September 2, 2007.

The Hudson Valley Writers Guild, founded in 1983, is a non-profit membership organization of about 200 writers from throughout the region.  The Guild’s community of writers consists of 200 writers throughout the region, and serves as an information clearinghouse for the local writing community and furthers writing through its public programs, peer workshops, and special member benefits.  For more information visit, www.hvwg.org.

To register or for more information, please contact Erika Sanger, Director of Education at 518.463.4478 ext. 404 or via email at sangere@albanyinsitute.org.
