THE COUNCIL OF THE ALBANY INSTITUTE OF HISTORY & ART HOSTS THE ART OF ENTERTAINING

The Council of the Albany Institute of History & Art cordially invites the public to THE ART OF ENTERTAINING, an informative and fun-filled program and luncheon, on Saturday, October 13 at the Normanside Country Club in Delmar at 9:30 am.  Tickets are $36.00 each.

Designed to inspire for the holidays, the program will feature the following:

  • A discussion on the wines by area wine connoisseur Shelia McNeil of Wines and Spirits of Slingerlands,

  • A cooking demonstration by Chef Blanch Kenney of Normanside Country Club on the secrets of making an authentic turkey gumbo and

  • An informative talk on cheese varieties and their usage by Michel Bray, Cheese Specialist for Golub, Inc.

In addition, top area retailers and designers will showcase stunning table settings featuring fine china, exquisite crystal and beautiful linens.  Each “tablescape” will be enhanced by a complementary floral arrangement.

The morning’s activities will conclude with a fashion show by Honingsbaum’s of Stuyvesant Plaza and a gourmet three-course luncheon prepared by Chef Blanche using recipes from The Albany Collection, The Council’s own cookbook.  Autumn centerpieces created by area florists and garden clubs will adorn each luncheon table and will be awarded as raffle prizes.

You won’t want to miss this prelude to the holidays.  For further information call Barbara Sluyter at 518.436.4949 or Ann Dalton-Greene at 518.756.6486.
