The Albany Institute of History & Art has public programs and expanded amenities available for visitors of all ages in honor of the holiday season.  

Visit the newly opened MUSEUM EXPLORERS GALLERY -- a special, hands-on museum experience for families. Discover what a museum is and explore some of the best ways to make a museum visit fun and meaningful.

  • Crack the code: how to read and understand museum labels
  • Design and install your own exhibition in a scale-model of a museum gallery
  • Learn about looking: discover the stories original objects can tell
  • Try on history: dress up in 18th century clothing 
  • Exercise your imagination in the art-making corner
  • Hunt down art and history treasures on a cyberspace odyssey

 

       

Enjoy one of the HOLIDAY BREAK SPECIALS -- an interactive learning experience that includes a gallery activity and art making intended for adults and children to share.  $2 material fee plus admission; reservations are required; please call the Museum Education Department at 463.4478.
