AIHA SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR NEW WEEKEND PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

The Albany Institute of History & Art is currently looking for docents to lead tours of its permanent and temporary exhibitions on weekends.

An information session about the program will be held at the museum on Saturday, October 19, 2002, at 10:00 am.  Members of the museum’s education staff will be on hand to talk with interested participants and lead tours of the facility.

This new corps of docents will be conducting weekend gallery talks and tours and will be leading tours for special groups who visit the museum.  They will also have the opportunity to assist with weekend programs such as lectures, films, workshops and family programs.

Training sessions will take place once a month on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.   Upon completion of their training, weekend docents will be asked to commit to three volunteer hours per month.

Individuals interested in this new program may contact Suzi Dorko Fonda in the Museum Education Office at 518-463-4478 for more information.
