Program in Honor of St. Patrick's Day at AIHA

The Albany Institute of History & Art will host “Stories and Poems of Ireland” by Batt Burns, seanachie (storyteller) and Maura O’Dwyer Burns, musician and singer on Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 2:30pm in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Children and adults are invited to join Irish “seanachie” Batt Burns and musician/singer Maura Burns as they present the art of storytelling.  Mr. Burns will bring traditional Irish stories to life, accompanied by selected songs and music performed by Ms. Burns.  They will also discuss life in Ireland, draw some comparisons between traditions in Ireland and America, and introduce some basic Gaelic phrases.

The lecture and performance are FREE to the public.  This program at the Albany Institute is brought to you by the Irish American Heritage Museum and made possible in part with funding from the Joseph M. Walsh Foundation, the City of Albany and the NYS Council of the Arts Decentralization Program, administered by Albany/Schenectady League of Arts Community Arts Connection. Additional support is provided by the Capital District Council for Social Studies.
