Enjoy a lecture by Mr.
Mummy. "Mummification: Resurrection of an Ancient Art” by Robert Brier,
Ph.D. In 1994, Dr. Robert Brier made international headlines by
mummifying a modern-day cadaver with a colleague. Using ancient tools and
procedures, Dr. Brier made the first attempt in 2,000 years to mummify a
corpse employing the ancient techniques used to preserve the pharaohs.
The project became the subject of a National Geographic television
documentary, Mr. Mummy. (Dr. Brier will be available at 2:00pm to
sign copies of his books available in the Museum Shop.)
Ancient Egypt Day is
supported by Fleet. Dr. Brier’s lecture is supported by a grant from the
Museum Loan Network.
