TRY TO SEE IT MY WAYJanuary 11 – March 2, 2003
Reception: January 11, 5:30-7:30pm
In conjunction with GE Power Systems Presents THE BEATLES: Now and Then, Photographs by HARRY BENSON, the Rice Gallery showcases Try to See It My Way focusing on bold color statements in painting and sculpture by Wendy Lehman, Willie Marlowe and Janet Sorensen, curated by Janis Keane Dorgan.
Willie Marlowe “explores unexpected turns and side trips in her painting” which has led to this latest imagery of oversized geometric canvases. Marlowe has been on the faculty of The Sage Colleges, Albany NY since 1977 with participation in programs in Ireland, Italy and the West Indies. Her recent solo exhibition venues include Washington D.C., Wexford Ireland, Louisiana and Germany.
Janet Sorensen’s multiple acrylics tell a story, much like a song, speaking to each in a different voice. Sorensen has been on the Skidmore College, Saratoga NY, faculty for over fifteen years. Her painting, drawing and printmaking have been exhibited in New York, Kansas, Indiana, West Germany and Wales.
Completing the exhibition are Wendy Lehman’s larger than life painted aluminum sculpture… part totem, part figure, part nature…all vibrant and alive. Lehman of New York City, has exhibited her work in galleries and outdoor venues from Connecticut to California. Her sculpture in public collections include Time Equities, NYC; Independence Savings Bank, NYC; Barker Pacific Group, San Francisco and Sunset Development Corp, San Ramon, California.
Support for this exhibition is provided by Mr. and Mrs. C. Wayne Williams. site designed and hosted by knick.net | |||||||||
