The Council of AIHA Hosts Recycle Your Art Show & Sale

The Council of the Albany Institute of History & Art cordially invites the public to a RECYCLE YOUR ART SHOW & SALE, from Saturday, July 13 through Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Colonie Center on the second floor, near Macy’s.

“Recycling” reaches a new level with this innovative and exciting new fundraising event that includes a wide variety of artworks left forgotten in basements and attics that have been donated for re-sale.  Shoppers will find new treasures for their home or office – both antique and modern originals will be showcased.

“It’s a win-win situation,” said event chair Marian Potter.  “ We help individuals who donate paintings, etchings, serigraphs, posters, sculpture or table art by finding a good home for their forgotten treasures and they, in turn, help The Council raise money to benefit the Albany Institute.  Whether its $30 or $300, the donor sets the price on the artwork.  Sixty per cent of the proceeds go to the donor; 40% goes to The Council and is tax-deductible.”  To receive a registration form with contract to make a donation of a forgotten art treasure, potential donors should contact Marian Potter at 518-237-6654 by July 1.

The Show & Sale will kick off with a Preview Party on Friday, July 12, 2002 from 5:00 – 8:00pm to allow attendees to be the first to view the collection before the Show opens to the public the following day.   Light refreshments will be served at this informal reception.  Tickets are available at $20 each or $35 per couple.  To purchase tickets for the Preview Party, contact Mary Stock at 518-456-6340 by July 5.

The Council of the Albany Institute of History & Art, an auxiliary organization supporting the Albany institute since 1961, provides financial support to the Albany Institute and promotes community interest in the museum. To accomplish these goals the Council operates the Rice Gallery and a travel program. Each year, the Council also presents fundraisers including the Albany Institute’s very popular Festival of Trees.  For more information, contact The Council President, Bonnie Taylor at 518-462-1389.
