Three-Day Art Camps
Ages 6 to 8: 9:00 am to noon
Ages 9 to 11: 1:00 to 4:00 pm


In this three-hour drop-off program, students will become familiar with and inspired by the works on view in our galleries. Working over three consecutive days, students will deepen their engagement in the artistic process and will have a chance to share their work on the third day of the workshop when families are invited to a display.

June 28, 29, 30: Go Figure!
Students will study people in paintings and sculptures in our galleries and create portrait figures.
August 30, 31, September 1: Things that Fly
Children’s imaginations will soar by building machines and creating animals that fly.

Morning session (ages 6–8)-CLASS FULL


Afternoon session (ages 9–11)

Tuition for all three days: $60 for non-members; $45 for members
Students must have completed a year of kindergarten to participate.


The 'Tute for Tots
Ages 3 to 5: Wednesdays, 10:00 to 11:30 am



An inspiring setting provides preschool children  and their adult companions the opportunity to become familiar with the museum and explore and grow through art. Each program includes a gallery visit followed by an art activity in our studio. Workshops last 90 minutes.

Summer in the City
Ages 12 to 15, Wednesdays; 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Join us for a series of workshops inspired by art, architecture, and design in the city of Albany. Instructors will lead gallery tours and neighborhood walks to explore these essential building blocks of the visual arts . Students will use a wide range of drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculptural media to execute their vision.

Thursday Art Workshops
Ages 6 to 8: 9:00 am to noon; Ages 9 to 11: 1:00 to 4:00 pm

Emphasizing fine-art techniques, materials, and vocabulary, children will be inspired in their own creativity by the many ways in which artists work. Classes incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and context to lessons.

Registration Information
Payment is required at the time of registration. Tuition includes museum admission and materials unless otherwise noted.

All classes are taught by a NYS certified art educator.

Drop-off and Pick-up
All workshops meet in the art studio. Your child must be accompanied by an adult to and from the studio.

Refund Policy
Workshop fees are non-refundable. In the event that the Albany Institute must cancel a class, a full refund will be issued.

Snack
Please feel free to pack a snack for your child.  We will provide bottled water.
