Experience a homeschool program in
which class subjects relate to the exhibitions on view, and incorporate
art/historical references to provide context for learning. $15 for
non-members, $10 for members, includes museum admission and art
materials. Select Thursdays and
Fridays, drop-off from
1:30–4:30 pm. Registration is required and
payment is due at the time of registration. ASL interpretation is
offered for this program. Age requirement is 8 years and older.

Open-Air Sketching:
Immerse yourself in the joy and fun of open-air sketching as this class
goes out on location to draw gardens from direct observation. Instructor
will emphasize sketching details and placement of objects. Drawings will
be refined indoors while students listen to French music.
October 16
Pastels:
Begin the class by
learning about the climate of Giverny, France. Then explore the medium
of pastels with a variety of toned and shaded papers to create light and
dark works of similar subject matter.
November 7
Digital Portraits and Color:
This class blends new and
old style by using digital photography to help create an Impressionist
portrait. Students will be introduced to Impressionism, use of color,
technique, and mixing methods to create a self-portrait.
December 11

Due to weather conditions, the HOME SCHOOL PROGRAM scheduled for Dec. 11

Acrylic Painting: Start with the basic materials, add the right
tools and methods to paint Impressionist style. Students will learn
about painters’ tools in the 1800s and how they are familiar and
different from those that artists use today. Afterward, students will
create Impressionistic landscapes on paper and canvas.
