Vacation Art Break

A $15 fee for members and $20 fee for nonmembers (per session)
covers the cost of materials and museum admission. Registration is
required and spaces are limited.

Take a break from the school vacation break with
children’s art workshops at the Albany Institute. Classes frequently
incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and context to
lessons.
Morning sessions (9:00 am–noon): for
children 6 to 8 years old
Afternoon sessions (1:00–4:00 pm): for children 9 to 13
years old

Textured Ceramic Boxes
Create geometric boxes from clay using a slab technique. Textures will
be impressed in the clay and the boxes will be painted with a natural
walnut stain to create a finished product.

Encaustic Landscape Collage
Encaustic is a painting technique that uses hot wax. It has been
used by artists for thousands of years. Participants will incorporate
fabric, paper, and encaustic to create an original landscape collage.

Self-Portrait Prints
Take your own digital portraits and create linoleum block prints using a
variety of papers and colored inks.
