Summer Art Workshops

At "Thursday's Children" programs children will work within the museum setting to experience the many ways artists work and are inspired. Emphasis is on fine art techniques, materials and vocabulary.  Classes incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and context to lessons.  Workshops are held Thursdays throughout July and August. Morning sessions from 9:00am-Noon for ages 6-8; afternoon sessions from 1:00-4:00pm for ages 9-13.  "Summer in the City" Art Workshops are designed for ages 13-15 and held on Wednesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00pm  Registration is required. Mythical Creature
How does one create a mythical creature? With your imagination of course! Explore the galleries for animals and textures. In the studio, let your imagination run wild by creating mythical, fantasy and make believe animals from clay.
July 10 - Afternoon Class is Sold Out
Easy Breezy Screen Printing
Screen printing explores the creative process of transferring an image. This easy breezy class uses the outdoors and the Hudson River School artists as a way to discover the possibilities of line and drawing to create serigraphs on canvas.

Place to be Shadow Box (morning)
Set out on an adventure by visiting the galleries to see different landscapes. In the studio use a variety of materials to make a shadow box of a special place you would like to visit.

Egyptian Amulet
For the adventurous! An exciting trip to the Egypt gallery where we will learn how amulets are believed to hold special powers. Return to the studio to create Egyptian amulet sculptures to wear or hold.
