Fee is $20 for non-members; $15 for members (fee per class). Registration is required.

Take a break from the break. During school vacation weeks, the Albany Institute offers children's art workshops in our studios. The elements of composition and painting will be discussed, while children’s technical and creative skills are developed through integration of both color and shape.

Programs are held
from 9:00 am to noon for children 6–8 years old; and from 1:00–4:00 pm for children 9–13 years old. Registration is required: $20 for non-members, $15 for members (fee per class). ASL interpretation is provided.

Spring Vacation Art Break 2009:
Wednesday April 15; Thursday, April 16; and Friday, April 17

9:00 – 12:00 pm (6–8 years old)
1:00 – 4:00 pm (9–13 years old)

Wednesday, April 15: Hudson River Gyotaku
Learn all about fresh water fish from our newest exhibition, Hudson River Panorama 400 Years of History, Art and Culture, and create Gyotaku, an 18th-century Japanese art form that combines three-dimensional fish and printmaking practices.

Thursday, April 16: Giant Fish
The sea-going Atlantic sturgeon can grow to a weight of 800 pounds and a length of 14 feet! Learn more about this prehistoric fish from our galleries.  In our studio, use a variety of painting styles and techniques to create large, bold and bright fish paintings.

PLEASE NOTE: The Thursday, April 16, afternoon session is closed.

Friday, April 17: Underwater Mixed Media
Explore the possibilities of mixed media and encaustic methods to design underwater animals and scenes.
