Take a break from the school vacation break with children’s art workshops at the Albany Institute. Classes frequently incorporate gallery visits to instill both content and context to lessons.

Morning sessions (9:00 am–noon): for children 6 to 8 years old
Afternoon sessions (1:00–4:00 pm): for children 9 to 13 years old

Arts of Ancient Egypt
Learn about how ancient Egyptians made toys. See examples of ancient Egyptian jewelry and the canopic jars used in the mummification process. Then make your own Egyptian toy, jewelry, and/or canopic jar in our studio.

Use various materials to make your own book that can be used as a journal or sketchbook when you get home.

Color and Pattern
Use fabric to explore elements and principles of art and create a collage of color and pattern.

A $15 fee for members and $20 fee for nonmembers (per session) covers the cost of materials and museum admission. Registration is required and spaces are limited.
