Museum curator and skilled pysanka artist Diane Shewchuk will demonstrate how to make a pysanka, or Ukrainian Easter egg.
Tuesday, April 19, 2022 • 11:00am - 12:00pm
Prescribed fire is an important part of taking care of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. Fire is a fascinating and powerful force of nature. The Albany Institute of History and Art is currently featuring a special exhibit by artist Leigh Li-Yun Wen, whose work features the four elements- earth, air, water, and fire. Join us on this 0.9-mile hike to learn about prescribed fire in the Albany Pine Bush and reflect on Wen’s artwork.
Wednesday, April 20, 2022 • 10:00am - 11:30am
This special, virtual paint workshop is for ages six and up, but we encourage the whole family to join and draw inspiration from current exhibiting artist, Leigh Li-Yun Wen’s cosmic paintings and hear a retelling of the Chinese folklore that inspired her work. Participants will be guided through creating an intergalactic painting of their own and encouraged to depict their own interpretation of the story!
Friday, April 22, 2022 • 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Meet us on the Albany Institute lawn for themed art projects, sidewalk chalk, and more! NOTE: This event was originally scheduled for Thursday, April 21 but due to the weather forecast it will now be on the rain date: Friday, April 22 from 12-3PM.
