Comments:
This large platter features a view of an unidentified English country estate in the center. Across the bottom , a view showing the entrance of the Erie Canal into the Hudson River at Albany has been printed over the view of the country estate. The canal scene is derived from a drawing by James Eights in the Albany Institute's collection. The canal boat at right displays the name "S. Van Rensselaer" for Stephen Van Rensselaer III, whose grand house appears in the background at far right.
