This plate belongs to a set made for Matthew and Ruth Rogers of Long Island, NY. The two were married in 1797. Two other plates from the set with the initials MRR exist in the S. Robert Teitelman Collection at Wintherthur Museum & Country Estate. Winterthur also has a plate of the same design without initials MRR.
