McEntee's panoramic landscape depicting the Shandaken Mountains (now New Paltz, NY) in the distance contains notes to himself in the lower left corner: "The lilly [sic] pads at a little distance give a dull grey tinge to the water and break the reflections"dead frogs." At the right is a scene of a small wooden shack, trees, and two fishermen, which is reflected in the water.
