Pots such as this one, stamped ALBANY/WARE in an oval medallion, represent the beginnings of the stoneware industry in Albany. Nearly all examples are undecorated, but this pot is enhanced with an incised and cobalt-glazed bird design, a common motif on stoneware from the Hudson Valley and New Jersey. Additional comments
