January Art du Jour: The Head Waters

Art du Jour is a virtual program featuring an in-depth discussion of a work of art from the Albany Institute’s collection.

Take a break! This virtual program features a relaxed, explorative discussion of The Head Waters  by Walter Launt Palmer.  Participants will be guided through a contemplative analysis of the painting by a member of the education staff. We will also explore recent conservation treatments to this painting. The guided discussion will be approximately 30-45 minutes, perfect for a break from your busy day at work or at home. No background in art is required to enjoy this program. Reservations required. Suggested donation $10.

Alan is one of the Albany Institute’s closest friends, serving on the museum’s board of trustees since 1989. Alan was its Chair from 1994 -1999 and led the fundraising that transformed the Albany Institute into the modern museum facility and campus we have today. That fundraising effort positioned the museum to complete a capital campaign, and begin providing world-class exhibitions, year-round education programming for all ages, and host special events to over 20,000 visitors annually. Alan is currently the Institute's Vice Chair.
