Vacation Art Break and Artful Mornings | Education Programs 2024-2025

Calling all young artists, ages six through twelve! Join us at the Albany Institute for fun, hands-on activities led by our museum educators. Prepare to learn new things, experiment with new ideas and connect with new people.

Throughout school breaks and the summer, we will explore the galleries at the Albany Institute and create our own works of arts!

Ages 9-12 year old 3 day session is from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM each day
Ages 6-8 year old session is Fridays from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

Ages 9-12 Artful Mornings Summer Program sessions will take place Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 9:00 AM —12:00 PM and will take place in the museum's Art Studio.

Registration for each session will be closed at 9:00 AM the day before the program for administrative purposes.
Refunds: If needed refunds will be issued for a cancellation.

F.A.Q.s

  • The doors to the museum will open approximately 10 minutes before the program's start time.
  • All required materials are included with the registration fee.
  • Please dress for mess!  Smocks/aprons are available, and you're welcome to provide your own if desired.
  • A snack break will be offered (outdoors when the weather is amenable).

  • If at least 3 registrations have not been received 1 week beforehand a session will be canceled.

December Art Break - The Imaginative and Illuminating World of Illustrators

Have you ever wondered what inspires an illustrator? Join us as we explore the world of felt and fairies with the art of Salley Mavor, animals from around the world with the art of Jan Brett, and the adventures of Hitty with the art of Dorothy Lathrop. We will create both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork inspired by these three illustrators.

April Art Break - Exploring Egyptian Mythology

Join us as we explore three Ancient Egyptian Myths exploring the lives of Osiris, Isis, Anubis, and Tefnut. Each day will start with the dramatic telling of a myth followed by creating artwork inspired by these vibrant Gods and Goddesses using the colors and symbols of the Ancient Egyptians.
