The Albany Institute of History & Art is open for free to the public as part of 1st Friday Albany. 

1st Friday, administered by the Upstate Artists Guild, aims to introduce a wider audience to the unique vitality of the artists and venues of Albany. 1st Friday promotes interest in the arts by making it accessible, thereby strengthening the arts community in Albany.

Special activities:

  • February 7: Book Talk & Signing with David Levine, author of The Hudson Valley: The First 250 Million Years (6PM)
  • June 5: There is no 1st Friday at the Albany Institute in June, due to the schedule of the museum's annual gala
