10:00am–5:00pm Family Free Days are back for the fall season! Enjoy free admission to the museum, explore the galleries, and shop the museum store. This Family Free Day, there will be a special performance by Lark Trio from 1–3 PM on the first floor. Lark Trio presents a program that explores the relationship between poetry and music in the art of song. The Trio includes Jessica Belflower, Aly Stack, and Brian Axford. Lark Trio harmoniously synthesizes the two art forms through consecutive readings and performances. Funding for Free Family Days is generously provided by M&T Bank, CDPHP, and the J.M. McDonald Foundation.

7:30pm–8:30pm Broken Branches: The Christine Kirwin Krackeler ConcertWorks by Dowland, Monteverdi, Britten, and others with traditional music from the Middle East The performance is in partnership with Capital Region Classical. This series will be perfect for the beginner student who needs slow-paced direction and a great level of detail so they can become familiar with basic yoga poses and the use of the breath.Mondays at noon, outdoors on the lawn weather permitting; in inclement weather, sessions will be held in the Key Cultural Center.Sessions are free for all. 5:00pm–7:00pm Albany Institute of History & Art holds extended hours for the city of Albany's popular First Friday program! This month includes a reception with special guest Nell Stokes. Stokes is the subject of our current exhibition Nell Stokes: Stories of an Education Advocate displayed on the museum's first floor. The exhibition represents the breadth of the local activist's network and her commitment to community through photographs, pamphlets, and other ephemera drawn from the Nell Stokes Manuscript Collection. This First Friday, meet Stokes, view the exhibition during its final months on view, and enjoy a cash bar. Admission to AIHA is free on Friday, November 1 from 5–7PM as part of Albany's First Friday program.

2:00pm–5:00pm   The Siege of Fort William Henry, 1757: Friends, Foes, and Danger in the Wilderness November 2, 2024, at 2 PM in the Key Cultural Center The St. Andrew’s Society of Albany will present a panel discussion on The Siege of Fort William Henry: Friends, Foes, and Danger in the Wilderness, which will examine and discuss the siege that took place on the Lake George fortress from August 3–9, 1757, during the early years of the French and Indian War.

6:00pm–7:30pm Join us for an intimate evening of seventeenth-century Dutch music in the Albany Institute's Hearst Gallery, performed by The Golden Age Trio: Yvonne Chavez Hansbrough, flute; André Laurent O’Neil, viola da gamba; Andy Rutherford, lute. Featured composers include Nicolas Vallet, Constantijn Huygens, Jacob van Eyck, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, and others. The performance complements the current exhibitions Delights of the Senses: Seventeenth-Century Dutch Art and Life, Featuring Paintings from the Leiden Collection and People of the Waters that Are Never Still: A Celebration of Mohican Art and Culture. The galleries will stay open until the performance begins at 6PM and the museum will host a cash bar. The concert will be followed by a Q&A with the musicians. Tickets are $35 non-members; $25 members. Space is limited, reserve here.
