Schuyler Marketplace

Don't miss our exciting new exhibition shop opening July 20th. The Schuyler Marketplace will be located on the second floor atruim, just outside the doors leading to The Schuyler Sisters & Their Circle exhibition. The shop will feature an exclusive selection of gifts that celebrate the world of the Schuyler Sisters and the history of Albany in the 18th century. Take home a special label tin of colonial blend coffee inspired by the beverages served at the Tontine Coffee House on State Street or a tin of early American tea inspired by the hospitality of the Schuyler sisters  and the other wives of the founding fathers. Both beverage blends are produced  exclusively for the Albany Institute by award winning tea company Oliver Pluff & Company. Our delicious Schuyler Plum Jam is made for the museum by Beth's Country Kitchen as a tribute to General Philip Schuyler and the renowned Schuyler Gage plums he grew on his Albany property in the mid 18th century. The Schuyler Marketplace will also feature colonial folk toys; historic reproduction jewelry; classic wooden chess and backgammon sets;  traditional wood and paper folding fans; confections, soaps, and sachets from France; lovely period stationery items including writing instruments, day books, wax seals, wrapping papers; and much much more. Enjoy the exhibition and take home a piece of Albany history.
