    The Albany Institute is open to the public.

    The museum is open Wednesday–Saturday 10am–5pm and Sunday 12-5pm. Learn more about our current policies on our Visit page.

    **Due to the recently issued Public Health Advisory from the Albany County Department of Public Health, masks are strongly recommended while at the museum. Please note: Programs and special events may require masks and/or proof of vaccination to participate. Details will be included with program information online or onsite. Free, single-use face masks are available at the Admission Desk.

    Help us learn more about our archives and collections as part of the Albany African American History Project! More information about the project and Lacey Wilson, the project's Public Historian for late-1800s through present day, is available here.

    Explore our Calendar of Events for upcoming virtual and in-person programs for all ages. 

    Art Connects

    This program is designed for people affected with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's and other memory loss with their care-partners. We will use our collections to renew and build social connections in which all can participate and enjoy. It does not require a background in art, nor does it rely on memory.

    Be creative on your schedule! Art Kits feature projects related to the museum's collections or exhibitions and include materials and instructions for you to complete at home on your own. Kits may be purchased online and picked up at the museum during regular admission hours.
